How to put on your website the price of a cryptocurrency and keep it updated?

The problem is that the price of a cryptocurrency is somewhat relative and depends on which market is concerned as it varies slightly from one market to another. The price indicators that are not from their own market but measure the average price of the markets, need that, monitor the price of the cryptocurrencies in the different markets: either ethereum (ETH), bitcoin (btc), liteocin (LTC) ), etc.

There are several ways to show the prices and the capitalization of cryptocurrencies, one of them would be using a plugin for our CMS, in this case wordpress and another way would be using a script directly.

There is a third way to show prices of cryptocurrencies that the most direct is to monitor the price of cryptocurrencies using an API or doing it directly to us, this way I will not teach it because we would have to build a big infrastructure to monitor it or pay for access to that information.

Show the prices of cryptocurrencies with plugins

CryptoWP: This plugin will allow us to show cryptocurrencies with their real-time price, in particular it will allow us to show more than 30 among those that include the main ones like Ethereum, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ripple, Monero, etc.

Crypto Price Widgets – CryptoWP

It allows us using shortcodes to insert prices of the cryptocurrencies in a post or a page, of a single cryptocurrency or of a set that we select.

I would like to give an example of widgets that this plugin allows but if I did that with each plugin I would load the hosting in a month.

So I leave an example capture of what we can create:

CryptoWP is a completely free plugin but in which they expect to add premium features later.

Cryptocurrency Widgets de Coinslist: It is a free plugin, more complete than the previous one and that also has a paid version or pro version.

Cryptocurrency Widgets – Price Ticker & Coins List

And is that this plugin has many features, not only allows you to show the price of a particular cryptocurrency or a set of them using comfortably shortcodes, but also allows you to customize how they are displayed, in what format.

Some of the free features that this plugin has is that the basic feature mentioned above and:

-Show the header or footer of your website the prices of the cryptocurrencies of a site for others, as they appear in the bags for example. This is done by many important cryptocurrency blogs, such as the website criptonoticias.com.

-Customize and show the prices in the money fiat what you want as euros, dollars, pounds, etc.

-Add custom CSS to widgets.

Pro version:

-You can show price charts.

-Display the prices of cryptocurrencies by market, ie: Binance, Coinbase Pro, etc. From more than 200 exchanges or exchange houses.

-More personalization still being able to add additional information in the widgets such as the trading that has taken place in the last 24 hours, etc.

-Functionalities for SEO and position better.

Show prices of cryptocurrencies with scripts

The other way with much less functionality but infinitely simpler, is to use scripts that offer websites like Coinmarketcap.com, which is the largest in fact and very reliable.

For example in this blog I use those scripts because it is a hassle to use a plugin for what I use it, since I do not need more.

Script example:

How do It?

Go to Coinmarketcap.com, and select a cryptocurrency, scroll and go to “tools”, there you will find the script to show the widget of the selected cryptocurrency. There are more than 1500 cryptocurrencies to show. In this capture you can see where “tools” and the code to be copied is:

You can also customize the widget by clicking on the blue button that you see in the previous capture, and this will appear:

And so we can customize the widget and then copy the code and use it, you can choose which currency is going to show the price and in what crypto currency the price will be displayed. For example you can show the Ethereum cryptocurrency but with the price in Euros or in Pounds and also the price of the ethereum in bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. You can also omit default widget information such as the movement volume in the last 24 hours or the position in the ranking by capitalization.

An example of my custom widget:

Neither are many changes that can be made, but hey, it can be useful if you do not want to show all the information and especially choose the currencies in which the prices are shown.
